An Expectant Prayer
The attitude of the heart in prayer
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” — Romans 12:12, The Bible -
There is a disease that kills our faith and halts our prayers. It focuses our eyes on God’s apparent non-response, it robs us of our joy of worship and communion with God, and it takes away our peace and keeps us up at night.
This disease is called hopelessness. It’s when we lose sight of God’s character, instead, we focus on our circumstances. Our impertinent expectation of always getting an answer, have us drawing conclusions that God is not interested in our personal lives. But He is, even with our petty requests, He listens.
When we go through suffering, or when we go through a personal wilderness, there is nothing more we can do but call out to God in prayer. All the more that we should cling to Him and his promises when everything around us does not make sense. Know that He is working in the background.
Keep on praying, having a heart that is expectant because of our personal knowledge of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Thank Him in advance for whatever answer you will get because you know it is for your best.
